Police Heritage Site
During the night of 29 March 1908, Foot Constable Albert Edward Ring was shot and killed in the execution of his duty while trying to reason with an armed offender, at `Miller`s Corner` at the intersection of Gordon & Partridge Streets and Jetty Road, Glenelg (approximately 500 metres east of this site).
Constable Ring was a well respected police officer who served the Glenelg community while stationed at the original 1865 Glenelg Police Station, from 9 November 1906 until his tragic death. He is buried in the Payneham Cemetery.
