The War Cemetery, as part of the the Parkes General Cemetery, commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action during World War Two. 

There are 18 graves within the War Cemetery of servicemen who were killed or died within the Parkes area - particularly those who were killed during training at the Parkes Royal Australian Air Force Training Base during World War Two.

The two Parkes soldiers killed during the Vietnam War - Captain Anatoly Danilenko and Private Douglas Roy James Powter - are interred in the Parkes General Cemetery.
