The plaque commemorates Grafton to Brisbane National Railway Link as a National Engineering Landmark 

The Institution of Engineers Australia, through its Heritage Committees, established the Australian Historic Engineering Plaquing Program to acknowledge past engineering achievements and to draw public attention to the significant contributions they have made to society.The Plaquing Program is a means of bringing public recognition to significant historic engineering works and the engineers who created them. The Program is intended to contribute to the conservation of Australian engineering heritage.

National Engineering Heritage Landmark

The Grafton to Brisbane National Railway Link was declared a National Engineering Heritage Landmark by Engineering Heritage Australia (the heritage arm of Engineers Australia) at a heritage recognition ceremony held on 13th June 2009.

The award recognises our assessment that this work of engineering has a history which is of national significance to the people of Australia.
