The monument commemorates the first general meeting of the Australian Stock Horse Society which was held in Tamworth in 1971.
The Australian Stock Horse Society is dedicated to preserving the heritage of the breed by recognising Registered Australian Stock Horses that have descended from the same breeds as horses ridden by the Australian Light Horse in World War One and breeds that resided in Australia prior to 1945.

This monument commemorates the first general meeting of the Australian Stock Horse Society Ltd.
This historical meeting was held in Tamworth on the 15th July 1971.
The Society was formed to preserve the bloodlines of those horses that pioneered and served our nation.
The popular breed is renowned for its quiet temperament, versality, agility and ability.
