Bec`s Seat was erected by contributions raised by Barwon Health to commemorate Bec Carter who was a long-term patient at Geelong Hospital.
Bec Carter, aged 31, passed away at Geelong Hospital after a long illness in August 2011. Bec, who lived in Lara suffered from a condition so rare it was named after her (Carter syndrome). As a patient at Barwon Health for most of her life, Bec became a familiar face to everyone at Geelong Hospital and the McKellar Centre. She was undoubtedly one of the biggest Geelong Football Club fans around and she was a favourite amongst the club footballers.
