The memorial in a garden setting, and the memorial board, commemorate Bianca Thorp, Claire Tapson, Larissa Heron, Sherilea Keating and Bianca Gourley. All five women were involved in Smithton's basketball community and were en route to a competition at Latrobe in 2006 when they were involved in a fatal crash.
The plaque is made of bronze and sits on a one- metre high decorative stone in the garden, while the memorial board is a timber plaque featuring photographs of the women, wall-mounted inside the stadium.
