The plaque commemorates Darren Lowder who died in 1997.

At the NSW Nacra Titles held at Trial Bay on the ANZAC Day weekend, Darren Lowder was electrocuted when the mast of his 5.8 (Even Crazier) hit an overhead powerline. Darren was killed instantly and his brother was badly burnt in the incident. Darren was only 23 years old at the time of his death. 

Darren was a member of the New South Wales NACRA Association for a number of years and an active sailor who competed in the national NACRA Titles.
