The headstone, erected over the grave, commemorates William Thomas Jones who was accidentally killed with his friend Theo Curtis in September 1926.

Two miles from North Bourke last night two commercial travellers, W. T. Jones and Theo Curtiss, were killed. The two men went for a drive with Richard Luscombe, licensee of the Federal Hotel, and when returning home from Dry Lake, 20 miles away, the driver mistook the road and took a turning leading to the river, and ran over a rocky embankment.
