The park commemorate Jesse Joshua Wickman who was drowned in the January 2011 flood.
Jesse became stranded with his parents, Brian and Katie Wickman, and his seven-year-old brother, Cody, on the roof of the family's Ford station wagon after Mrs Wickman attempted to drive through flood waters. In his report, coroner Mr Barnes exonerated two Queensland Fire and Rescue Service officers of any blame for the death of Jesse, who drowned after he was swept away from his rescuers while they tried to swim to safety through flood waters.
