The plaque commemorates Frank C. Richardson (1897 - 1948) for his services to the development of sport and the improvement of Unley Oval.

Frank ("Dick") Richardson, one of the "fathers" of the Unley Oval, and a pioneer of sport in the Unley district died yesterday. Mr. Richardson, an uncle of V. Y. Richardson, former international cricketer and interstate footballer, was, with his brothers, one of the founders and builders of Unley Oval. He was a life member of the Sturt cricket and football clubs. For a long time he was coach and champion of the Sturt Bowls Club and ground manager of the Unley Oval.
