The park commemorates the arrival of Samuel Mills (1803 - 1872) in South Australia in 1839.  He was the first person to grow wheat in the District.

             From Scotland On June 19th, 1839.
                 After Experimental Farming
                       In The Millswood Area
                   He Became The First Person
                To Grow Wheat In This District.

The Land Was Donated By Jennifer Tiller, Gordon,
Adrian And Philip Shepherd And Yvonne Molineux.
Descendants Of The Above And Handed Over To
                   Council On June 11th 1989.
