The memorial was erected over the grave in memory of Thomas White, a pioneer squatter of Young, who died in 1924 at the age of 104.

An effort is being made by relatives and friends to erect a suitable memorial stone in the Young cemetery over the grave of Thomas White, who outlived all his early associates, and died a centenarian aged 104.
