Flying Officer Thomas Henniker Print Page 
The monument commemorates Flying Officer Thomas Henniker who was killed when the P3 Orion aeroplane in which he was travelling crashed at Rumah Baru, Cocos Islands in April 1991.
All other crew members survived thanks to the rescue efforts of members of the local community.

In memory and honour of Flying Officer Thomas James Henniker who was tragically killed on 26th April 1991 while on duty on board P3 Orion aircraft A9-754 which ditched at Cocos Island.
His family and friends, the RAAF and the Cocos Island community will never forget him.
Australia is proud of Flying Officer Henniker who served his nation with pride.
His name will live forever.
