The seat commemorates Flight Sergeant Malcolm George Western who was killed in action in December 1943 during World War Two.
Flight Sergeant Malcolm George Western, 576 Squadron RAF, of Marion, SA. Flt Sgt Western, aged 20, was the air gunner on Lancaster bomber DV342, radio call sign: UL-62. The entire crew of DV432 died on the night of 16 December 1943 when it was attacked enroute to Berlin and crashed at Lichtenberg, Germany."
