The carved wooden table commemorates Warrant Officer John Trevor Soundy who lost his life in World War Two. John Soundy was a former pupil at the school between 1926 and 1929.
He was the co-pilot of the 13 Squadron, U.S.A.A.C., North American Mitchell, 41-12483 which departed Charters Towers at 0930 hours on 7 January 1943, to deliver supplies to Port Moresby in New Guinea. Nothing more was ever heard from the aircraft.
