The gates commemorate Dr Frederick J. R. Cade.

Dr Cade who died in 1931 practiced in Narrabri for more than thirty years. He was patron of many organisations and had been a committeman of the Narrabri Jockeys Club as well as being President for a short time.

Yesterday a crowd of about 500 persons attended the ceremonial opening of the gates erected at the entrance to Collins Park, in memory of the late Dr. F. Cade, who died at Narrabri on May 16, 1931. On behalf of the Cade Memorial committee, Dr. Clifford Jones entrusted the gates to the Mayor, who formally opened them. Speakers referred to Dr. Cade as a great and a good man, who had given valuable service to the community.
