The Hannah Watts Park commemorates Mrs. Hannah ("Grannie") Watts for her services to the Melton community as a nurse and midwife who established the first hospital.
Hannah Watts built a home and private hospital "Lynch Cottage" where she delivered over 400 babies between 1886 and 1921.

In memory of Mrs. Hannah ("Grannie") Watts` selflessness & service to the early Melton community.
Hannah Watts was born in Ireland on Dec. 23, 1831.
She emigrated to Australia in 1854 & settled in this District in 1858.
Until her death on October 21, 1921 she was for many years Melton's only nurse & midwife, also establishing the first hospital in Melton at "Lynch Cottage" corner Yuille St. & Sherwin St, registered in 1911.
Council records with appreciation the service work by the Melton Lions Club & Rotary Club of Melton towards the development of this park.
