The gates commemorate Councillor James Sloanwho was accidently killed in 1960 at the age of 62 when his car collided with a goods train.
Councillor Sloan was a Member of the Korong Shire Council for 20 years and also a past president. He was a foundation member and past president and secretary of the Inglewood Wheat and Woolgrowers Branch. A vestry man of St Augustine’s Church of England, Inglewood. Secretary and a life member of the Loddon Valley Football League. Past president of the Inglewood Football and Cricket Clubs. Originator of the Accident Insurance Fund of the Loddon Valley Football League. Secretary of the Community Sports Centre Advisory Committee.
