The fountain erected by the Bankstown Municipal Council commemorates the services of H. W. Dane as administrator of the area. He administered the council during 1954, 1955 and 1956 and then again in 1963, 1964 and 1965.
The fountain was originally located on the corner of The Mall and Appian Way, Bankstown. Officers of the Council designed and built the fountain.
