The park and plaque commemorates Charles Harold Lundberg, M.B.E., for his service rendered to the Tweed District. Charles Lundberg was a former councillor and Shire President in the Tweed Shire. 

Charles Lundberg was awarded an MBE in 1970 for his services to local government and the sugar cane industry.
