The park and plaque commemorates Charles Harold Lundberg, M.B.E., for his service rendered to the Tweed District. Charles Lundberg was a former councillor and Shire President in the Tweed Shire. 

Charles Lundberg was awarded an MBE in 1970 for his services to local government and the sugar cane industry.

Member of the State Committee set up in 1948 to investigate the Tweed River Flood Mitigation Scheme which was carried out during the period 1958 1969 at a cost of $1,300,000
