This fountain is erected in memory of Cr. Merv Wright M.B.E.
Tireless community and charity worker who was accidentally killed on the 3rd February 1972.
It is built from donations by the people of Ulverstone, the Government of Tasmania and former associates from all walks of life.
Officially opened by the Premier of Tasmania the Honourable E. E. Reece M.H.A. on the 31st December, 1973
