The housing complex commemorates `Auntie Billie` Pitscheneder for her contribution to the Darwin community and her work for charity.
Billie Pitscheneder worked for a number of volunteer organisations including the Braille Institute for the Blind and the Guide Dog for the Blind association. As a result of this she was awarded the British Empire Medal, the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee medal, six life memberships and five honorary memberships of various organisations.
