The Andrews Walk commemorates Percy Andrews and his family who lived at Clifton Lodge from 1930 to 1987.
In 1931 the original 80 acres of the Stonyfell property were subjected to some early subdivision by the owner Harloe Knox. The house remained with 33 acres but ten acres in the south-west corner were sold to Percy Andrews. This was the high land to the south of the driveway to Clifton House and it included the original gateway Lodge. Andrews Walk is along the approximate alignment of part of the original driveway which still extends up to Hallett Road opposite the end of High Street and where the main gate to the property was supervised by a gatekeeper who lived in the nearby Lodge.
Percy Andrews let the Lodge but put an old railway carriage in the garden which he and his family used for weekend visits and where they invited soldiers for picnics during the war. Mrs Andrews retired to the Lodge in 1962 and lived there until her death in 1987.
