This monument is dedicated to keeping alive the memory of 
       Bill Wakeham 
who, along with his wife Joan, was actively involved
in the naming of Illawong.  As a founding member of the local fire 
brigade and progress association he was a major contributor to 
the establishment of many necessary services for the community 
and to the development of the local school.
    Always a true conservationist.
Bill will live forever in the hearts of those who knew his worth.
