The playground commemorates William J. Griggs, who was well known in the District.
The death occurred on Saturday morning of Mr. William John Griggs, of Prospect Hill. He was one of the most well known and respected men in the district. A service was held in the Prospect Hill Methodist Church on Sunday, prior to the funeral at the Meadows Cemetery. Over 100 motor cars were in the funeral procession. Mr. Griggs, prior to his illness took a very prominent part in public life and took a very active interest in community affairs.
