The memorial commemorates Myra Jones B.E.M. who was a major contributor to the Rocky Creek War Memorial Park. Myra nursed at the 2/2nd Australian General Hospital which was located at Rocky Creek during World War Two.

The Rocky Creek Memorial Park was established in 1995 primarily through the initial efforts of Tim Foley, Mark Alcock and Myra Jones.
