The plaque commemorates the work of past Vice-President of the National Trust of South Australia and founder of the Trust’s country branches, Mr. C. L. Alexander.  The museum is dedicated to Mr. Alexander. 

He had been associated with the Tumby Bay area through his work as a surveyor and his assistance in the establishment of the Tumby Bay Branch.
