The Plaque commemorates Edmund Cooper Manfred (1856-1941), architect, who was associated with the building of St Saviour`s Cathedral.
Edmund Cooper Manfred was born in London in 1856. By 1870 he and his widowed mother had sailed to Sydney to join family already settled in Manly. E.C. Manfred completed his education and undertook training as an architect with Edmund Blacket. He came to Goulburn to supervise the construction of Blacket's Cathedral Church of St Saviour. In 1879 he set up his architectural practice in Goulburn, advertising as an Architect & Surveyor. His son Herbert later joined him in the business. Edmund Cooper Manfred died in 1941.
