The memorial comprises of water features, fountain, gardens and statue of a woman. It was sponsored by the County Women`s Association and other women`s organisations.

A committee was formed from the State`s women`s` organisations in January 1963 to erect a fountain to symbolise women`s part in the development of the State.

Pioneer Womens Memorial

This fountain plays to honour the Pioneer Women of Western Australia. The figure symbolises their courage, strength and tenderness. Mother and child move through the bushland of surging jets towards their destiny, the three great sprays.

Opened by Lady Kendrew  14th January 1968.
