The cairn commemorates the pioneers of the Huddleston District which was settled in 1870 and the past congregation of the Methodist Church. The cairn also features the foundation stone of the Huddleston Methodist Church.
The Huddleston Methodist Church foundation stone was laid on the 16th March 1920 and the church was opened on the 22nd August 1920.
