On 22 February 1864 twenty two German families disembarked from the paddle wheeler Diamond about 500m from this site.

They formed the settlement of Bethania and were the first of many hundreds of Germans who later settled the Logan - Albert Region.

This plaque commemorates the 150th anniversary of their arrival.

Erected with sponsorship from Logan City Council on 22 February 2014
