Plaque:
INVERGORDON RURAL FINANCE & SETTLEMENT SCHEME
This plaque is dedicated to the Invergordon settlers.
The scheme was developed by the Rural Finance & Goulburn Murray Water.
Total Area Approx: 7000 Hectares
Water Right Approx: 25,600 Megalitres
The scheme consisted of 81 orchards average size 50 acres and 89 dairy farms average size 100 acres.
The first settlers arrived in 1961, with the last allocation arriving in 1966.
For many young families, the inception of the Invergordon settlement created a huge opportunity for them and has continued to prosper for future generations.
Laurie (Ned) Cummins was the original water bailiff at Invergordon and held that position until his retirement of 1993.
This plaque was unveiled on October 8, 2006 by representatives of the Rural Finance and Goulburn-Murray water
