The time capsule commemorates the bicentenary of the arrival of the First Fleet in Australia in 1788. 

The Bicentenary marked the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney in 1788. Captain Arthur Phillip (1738–1814), commander of the First Fleet, established the foundations of a British colony at Sydney Cove on the 26 January 1788.

Under this rock a time capsule was buried on 2nd July 1988 by the residents of Wyangala Dam

To celebrate the Bicentenary of  the arrival of the First Fleet in Australia.

The capsule should be dug up every 25 years. Perused.  Added to if so desired and reburied until the final date of July 2088 the Tricentenary
