Commemorating The 150th Anniversary Of George And Sarah Veness Establishing A Shop, Inn And Home, Of Split Slab Construction At "The Junction" Of Manilla And Namoi Rivers. A Popular Camping Area For Teamsters On Their Way To Settlements Further North.
At The Request Of Postal Authorities George Veness Gave The Settlement Its Name

This Plaque Was Erected By The Manilla Community And Unveiled By Current Residents Margaret Lane (nee Ferry) Janette Coulton And Keith Lane Who Are The Great, Great Grandchildren Of George And Sarah Veness.
