The trees commemorate the 25th anniversary (silver jubilee) of Queen Elizabeth II`s ascension to the throne.

The Queen succeeded to the Throne on the 6 February, 1952 on the death of her father, King George VI. She was in Kenya at the time and became the first Sovereign in over 200 years to accede while abroad. The Governor-General of Australia, Sir William McKel, issued the proclamation of Elizabeth's accession as Queen of Australia on Thursday, 7 February.

Queen Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was the longest serving English monarch, who reigned from 6 February 1952 to 8 September 2022 a period of over 70 years.
