The Diamond Jubilee Walk, which contains 60 trees, commemorates the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II`s reign.

The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II was a multinational celebration throughout 2012, that marked the 60th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II on 6 February 1952. 

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime and 15 at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Brisbane Councillor
Graham Quirk hosted a Tree Planting Ceremony on
Thursday 7 June 2012, to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee
of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Representatives of all ages
from across the community participated in planting 60 trees,
one tree to commemorate each year of Her Majesty`s reign,
creating a natural legacy to be enjoyed for generations to come.
