The monument commemorates Tasmanian commercial fishermen who have died at sea.

The monument is a curved celery top pine facing with a powder coated aluminum and stainless steel frame. Name plaques are laser etched discs that are embedded into the wood.   The names of those lost at sea are placed at random on the wood facing.

The monument has been upgraded since 2013 when the original plaque was replaced.
