The memorial commemorates the sinking of the H.M.A.S. Warrnambooland the loss of four crew.
On the 13th September 1947, H.M.A.S. Warrnambool struck a mine at Cockburn reef and sank with the loss of four lives.
The four sailors had become the last naval casualties of World War Two operations.
