The monument commemorates workers who have died, been injured or become ill because of their work.

International Workers Memorial Day, 28 April, is a day to remember those who are killed or die as a result of their work. The day also commemorates those injured or made ill because of their work. On Workers' Memorial Day we not only honour our colleagues but we recommit to preventing this pain and suffering.
