Workers Memorial DayPrint Page
The monument commemorates the men, women and children who have died at their workplace.
Attached to the monument is a plaque dedicated to Peter Watson who died in a workplace accident in July 2014. He was operating a Bobcat at the Bradken metal castings factory in July 2014 when he was killed. Police say he used the bobcat to pick up a hot metal cast, weighing about 100 kilograms, from a bin. The heavy load tipped from the bobcat's bucket and crashed through the windscreen of the machine's cabin. Peter Watson was crushed and died at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services.
