Gympie Gold Miners MemorialPrint Page 
The monument commemorates the 149 miners who died in the Gympie and Kilkivan gold mines between 1868 and 1952.
Originally built as a project for out of work miners in late 1920s, the Calton Hill Park and Zig-Zag gardens serve as a memorial for those miners who lost their lives working on the Gympie goldfield. A memorial bearing their names at the top entrance to the park was dedicated to these men in 2008 as part of the rebuilding project. The refurbished park was reopened in 2009 as part of Queensland's 150th celebrations.
