The Nuriootpa Road - Racing Street Circuit
This plaque commemorates the Nuriootpa Road - Racing Street Circuit used in 1949 and 1950 for motor car and motorcycle races, notably the Australian Grand Prix which was run on this circuit on 2nd January 1950 and won by the famous Ford racing car "Black Bess", driven by Doug Whiteford.
The plaque was unveiled by Mr Brian Hurn, Mayor of the Barossa Council on 12th April 2000.
This plaque has been donated to the citizens of Nuriootpa by the Sporting Car Club of South Australia Inc., on behalf of motor sports enthusiasts
