The plaque commemorates the pioneer families who founded the Lima East Wesleyan Church in 1900.

The Lima East Wesleyan Church was originally built on Creamery Road in 1900 before being dismantled in 1958 and rebuilt on land donated by Albert Heaney. The church then became the Swanpool Methodist Church.
