The monument outside the western end of the Church was built over the grave of Father Murphy who died unexpectedly at the age of 35 years. It stands about five metres high and is built of Ravensfield stone.
The monument contains inscriptions to Reverend Bernard Murphy who died in 1863, the Very Reverend Patrick McCormack who died in 1951 and the Very Reverend Michael Foran who died in 1893.
The monument is surrounded by a wrought iron fence which also contains the grave of the Reverend Father Thomas Purcell.
