Mass Rocks

At these rocks in January 1838 Holy Mass was celebrated for the first time in the settlement of Western Australia.

The Chaplain of the French frigate "Heroine" gathered the few Catholics of Frederickstown to this place and opened Mass.

The Albany Port Authority, in Albany's Sesquicentenary Year (1977) erected this plaque to mark the site where Catholic worship  in Western Australia first began.
