The plaque commemorates the supporters of Christ Church Day School.

The school opened in North Adelaide in 1849, and in 1866 funds were raised for a new school building in Jeffcott Street opposite Christ Church. The new Gothic style building opened in 1869. Stables were added in 1872. The school closed with declining enrolments in 1963 and the buildings were leased to tenants.
