Millennium of Christianity in RussiaPrint Page
The chapel commemorates the millennium of Christianity in Russia from 998 to 1988, and the Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Harbin, China which was destroyed by the Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution in 1966.
1988 marked the millennium of Christianity in Russia, and commemorates the baptism by Prince Vladimir, ruler of the medieval state of Kievan Rus, of his subjects into the Christian faith in AD 988. From this event the Russians, Belorussians and Ukranians all trace their religious heritage.
