The memorial gates and marble tablet were erected in memory of the pioneers of the church 1873-1953.

The little Methodist church at Arthur's Creek, in the hills beyond Hurstbridge, which was built, in 1873 for a cost of £60, celebrated its 60th anniversary. Much of the building was done voluntarily by the early pioneers, whose memory has been perpetuated by the erection of memorial gates and the entire renovation of the church. Former residents from throughout Victoria attended.
Age (Melbourne), 28 September 1953.
