The Chisholm Memorial Church of St Silas was named as a tribute to the generosity of Mrs Lucy Chisholm who gave the land for the church and defrayed the cost of the building.

The foundation stone of the Chisholm Memorial Church of England at Breadalbane was laid by the Bishop of Goulburn (the Rt. Rev E H Burgmann).  Appreciative references were made to the generosity of Mrs. Lucy Chisholm, of Raeburn, Breadalbane, who gave the site, and had agreed to defray the cost of the building, which is being erected at the junction of the Gunning and Collector Roads, and will face the Federal Highway. Bishop Burgmann said that the Chisholm family had been associated with church life in the district for about a century.
